Twitch name generator
A Twitch username is not a label on a profile — it is the address of your channel. Change it and the old URL does not forward to the new one, so every link anyone has ever posted breaks. That is what this page generates for: a name worth keeping past the 60-day cooldown.
Ideas are capped at 25 characters for Twitch and generated in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Availability
Nothing here checks whether a Twitch name is taken. Twitch answers that in Profile Settings, and Twitch has said it does not accept requests to take a name from another account even when that account looks abandoned.
If you want the same handle on Instagram as well, the Instagram username checker is the one check on this site that reads a live answer.
Twitch’s own rules
- A Twitch username can be changed once every 60 days. Twitch Blog — The hype is real: Name changes are here, published 2017-02-24, read 2026-09-02.
- The URL of your channel page changes with the name and the old one does not redirect to the new one — every link you have posted elsewhere has to be updated by hand. Twitch Blog — JTV usernames are now yours for the taking, published 2017-11-17, read 2026-09-02.
- The name you leave behind is held by Twitch for a minimum of six months, after which it may go back into the pool. Partner usernames are not recycled except in special circumstances; an Affiliate’s old name may be. Twitch Blog — JTV usernames are now yours for the taking, published 2017-11-17, read 2026-09-02.
- Streamers lose access to dashboard stats on a rename unless the stats are exported first. Twitch Blog — JTV usernames are now yours for the taking, published 2017-11-17, read 2026-09-02.
- Twitch does not accept direct requests to take a name from another existing account, however inactive it looks. Twitch Blog — JTV usernames are now yours for the taking, published 2017-11-17, read 2026-09-02.
Twitch’s help portal is a JavaScript application that automated readers cannot open (checked 2026-09-02), so the character set and length rule is not quoted on this page — the two Twitch blog posts cited below are, with their publication dates visible. Ideas here are capped at 25 characters and use letters, numbers and underscores; the sign-up field is the authority.
Frequently asked questions
How often can I change my Twitch username?+
Once every 60 days, according to Twitch’s own announcement of the feature. The bigger cost is not the wait: your channel URL changes and the old URL does not redirect, so every link in a video description, a Discord pin or a sponsor’s page points at nothing.
What happens to my old Twitch username?+
Twitch holds it for a minimum of six months and may then return it to the pool of available names. Partner usernames are not recycled except in special circumstances; Twitch later clarified that an Affiliate’s old username may be recycled after six months.
Can I take an inactive Twitch username?+
Not by asking. Twitch has said it does not accept direct requests to take a name from another existing account, however long that account has been idle. The practical route is a different spelling of the name you wanted, which is what the list above is for.
Does this page know whether a Twitch name is free?+
No. Twitch only answers that in its own sign-up and Profile Settings fields, and no honest tool on the outside can answer it for you. Copy a handful of ideas and try them there.
Why does this page not quote Twitch’s character rule?+
Because we could not read it. Twitch’s help portal renders through JavaScript and returns an empty shell to an automated reader — checked on 2026-09-02 — so quoting a length or a character set here would mean copying it from somewhere that is not Twitch. The generator caps at 25 characters and sticks to letters, numbers and underscores instead.

Picked a name?
Connect the account, then write once for all of them
The same name on Instagram, TikTok, X and Threads means four accounts to post to. Connect each with its own sign-in and one caption reaches all four, each within its own limit.
Write once, tailor per platform
One caption; each platform gets its own card with its real limit, a title where one is needed, a first comment where the platform allows it.
Schedule, queue, or repeat
Pick a time, drop it in recurring slots, or recycle a post every few weeks. Best times to post come from your own history.
Media fitted per platform
An image outside a platform's ratio is padded with a blurred copy of itself. Carousels where allowed, a PDF as a LinkedIn document.
$5 per connected account / month
Two accounts is ten dollars, eleven is fifty-five. No tiers, no seats, unlimited posts. Cancel from your account page.
